The Town of Leighton will hold a public hearing on Friday, July 13th, 10:00 a.m., at the Leighton Town Hall to discuss the Town's submission of an application for the Program Year 2018 Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) program. The Town is interested in obtaining all citizens' input on community development needs within the town. As part of the hearing process, citizens will be asked to verbally assist in the completion of a Needs Assessment document. The document will detail what the residents feel are the strengths and weaknesses of the community. The State has established a maximum application request for each funding category. Activities that are eligible for funding include the improvement of public works, public facilities, housing rehabilitation, and others allowed by law. No displacement of persons will be proposed.
The Town is proposing to make water system improvements in low/moderate income areas of town including, but not limited to, Old Highway 20, Washington Avenue, Mullins Street, Clearview Street, Percy Sledge Street, Maple Street, 1st Street, 2nd Street, 3rd Street, Nora Morgan Street, Clark Street, College Street, Oak Street, High School Street, New High School Street, Nichols Street, Meadow Street and Circle Drive.
